There are several ways to reach Twillingate. From the western coast of Newfoundland, it is more convenient and faster to take Route 340 from the Trans-Canada Highway into [wiki=295e36673f67462065931518a0523cda]Lewisporte[/wiki] and follow Road To The Isles (Route 340) through towns such as Campbellton, Baytona, Birchy Bay, Boyd's Cove, Summerford, Virgin Arm and a few others until you reach Twillingate island. If you are coming from the east coast of Newfoundland, taking route 330 (Cooper Blvd. in Gander) from the Trans-Canada Highway, through Gander Bay until you reach the Route 340 intersection, then turn right and follow Route 340 to Twillingate.
• filter_dramaGet around
Twillingate is relatively easy to navigate through. When you arrive on the island via route 340, you continue straight to reach the main area of town or turn left for Black Duck Cove, a small community on the island. The next small community you will reach is Purcell's Harbour; another small, drive-through community. After that you will see Little Harbour. This community is similar to Purcell's Harbour and is drive-through. Drive another three kilometers and you will be in Twillingate. The first street you will see (and will already be on) is Toulinguet Street. On this street, there are several gas stations and stores for your convenience. On your left, the first street you will meet is Rink Road (Bayview Street) that will lead you to Bayview, another subdivison of Twillingate. This street will also lead you to the George Hawkins Memorial Stadium, home of the famous Fish Fun and Folk Festival. After that, Toulinguet Street will end with a final intersection. Turning left will take you to Main Street North and the famous Long Point Lighthouse while a right turn will lead you onto Main Street South that leads to Durrell.
