During winter months, skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing, telemarking and whatever else takes your fancy are the focus of the entire town. The Fernie Alpine Resort [http://www.skifernie.com] offers amazing terrain and huge amounts of fresh powder on a regular basis. Season passes are $1139 and day tickets are $69.

Located on the main route through town, Hwy 3, with a big list of free facilities (pool, hot tub, sauna, kitchen, laundry, movie room, games room, ski and boot storage), so they are a mid-range hotel with nice rooms but the benefit of amenities like a hostel. Pricing ranges between $90 for a room with two double beds, to $130 for rooms with two queens, bunk bed options or even a king bed suite for a nicer weekend away.
