    By car

    The vast majority of visitors to Stewart arrive by car. To get to Stewart, take Route 37 until you hit Meziadin Junction, and then turn onto Route 37A. Stewart is about 4 hours from Terrace, 4 1/2 hours from Smithers, and 6 hours from Prince Rupert. If you are coming from a distant place, it is recommended that you fly to Terrace, Smithers, or Prince Rupert and rent a vehicle to get to Stewart.

    Stewart Airport has a small landing strip for small planes. As of September 2015, no commercial airlines fly into or out of Stewart.

    There is no public transportation in Stewart. The town of Stewart itself is small, and is easily navigable on foot. However, if you want to go across the border into Hyder, you'll need a car, as the border is quite far from downtown Stewart.

    *See Salmon Glacier. Take the Granduc Road north out of Hyder to see the glacier.
    *Walk on the boardwalk. The boardwalk extends from downtown Stewart into the uninhabited wetlands of the region, providing views of the Portland Canal and the surrounding mountains and glaciers.
    *Drive the Barney's Gulch Trail/Sluice Box. When you come into Stewart from the east, take the first left after the Bear River and follow the signs.
    *Go heliskiing during the winter.
